How it works

The credit card payoff calculator shows how long it takes to clear your balance and how much interest you will pay, depending on how much you pay each month.

The APR is applied monthly to the balance. If you only pay the minimum, most of it goes to interest and the debt lingers for years. A fixed or higher payment cuts the time and cost dramatically.

Example: a €5,000 balance at 18.9% APR with €200/month is cleared in about 2.5 years.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the debt last so long on minimum payments?

The minimum payment covers mostly interest and very little principal, so the balance drops very slowly.

How much does an extra payment help?

Every extra euro goes to the principal and saves future interest — even a small increase greatly reduces the payoff time.

What is APR?

It is the card’s annual rate. It is divided by 12 for the monthly interest charged on the balance.
